I am currently revising the draft of a memoir with the working title, All at Risk. My book focuses on the experience and consequences of divorce. I recall my thoughts and feelings as divorce was occurring, and I consider how its results have become a part of life over the subsequent years.
Simultaneously, I am close to completing the manuscript for Sunny Senegal, a short book of essays based on my Christmas, 2009 trip to Dakar to visit my younger daughter, Lizzie. As follow Lizzie, wide-eyed with curiosity about her daily life as a Western, white woman in a West African neighborhood, I discover that my foreign travel is actually an expedition to the heart of my relationship with my daughter.
Writing art criticism is a particular pleasure for me.
You can view my
blog where I cover visual art, music, and literature. I write bi-weekly for The Other Paper in Columbus, Ohio, reviewing visual arts. I would like to expand my opportunities to write about new music and jazz. I hope that through reviewing I introduce ideas that may enhance the public’s pleasure in and engagement with art. I like the opportunity I have to tell artists that I’ve stopped to think about their work. |
